Our most beautiful maple of the season has an extraordinary figure and was grown in the baronial palace garden Birstein. It was the lord himself, Alexander Prinz von Isenburg, who sold this 200-years old and PEFC-certified log to Mehling & Wiesmann. It has a length of 6 meters, a diameter of 73 cm and 2 cubic meters. The first part impresses because of its extraordinary, smooth and equably figure and its beautiful light colour – 1450m² knotless veneers wait for a customer! The second part is sold to the musical instrument industry that produces violins out of it.

We had a strong joint fair presence with our Singaporean partner Natureal on Hospitality Show and are very happy about the good response to our products!  South-East Asia loves chocowood – so we hope to see some of our visitors again soon! Our douglas fire veneers loved beautiful Singapore so much that they decided to take lodgings with Marina Bay Sands.

Dear visitors of INTERZUM 2011, wow what a great show! We were stoked about the interested public and glad to present our family-run company. The chocolate spring found many fans as well as our dark veneers – dark like chocolate! Thank you for your visit and your interes in chocowood. We hope to see you again next year!

It does take some courage to have a dining table made of yew wood: not only because of its extraordinary and daring look or for the reason that the timber is highly toxic, but also because there are many legends and myths around the yew tree. For the Teutons, it has been a tree of character and the popular belief was that a yew signals death – but also birth and eternal life. Our one-of-a-kind yew trunk is grown together out of 37 small yews per square meter and is comparably young with its 70 years. There are yews that are several thousand years old! We made several table tops out of it and are very much delighted about the result – it’s a great and unique design. If you like it as much as we do ask for one of the table tops!

Around 500 years old is the new wooden treasure of Mehling & Wiesmann – a huge oak purchased on the 1^st submission of high grade oak wood in the Palatinate. It costed more than 10 000 € and was the most expensive log of this auction. The employees of Mehling & Wiesmann call the tree ‘Oak of Luther’ because the first annual growth rings are approximately 500 years old – so this tree started growing in the lifetime of Martin Luther. After purchasing this unique log there were made nice light oak veneers out of it. We are convinced to find a very happy buyer for this unique wood that is more and more rare!

It was 140 years old and has an unique and beautiful equably figure all over. The first length with 2,61 solid cubic meter realized the highest price ever: 35.000 €. The second length was bought at an auction by a competing company – it costet 13.335€  per solid cubic meter.
